St Patrick's Day Party Punch Drinks - Green Leprechaun Punch

A St. Patrick's Day party punch will be one of the first things your guests notice, so you want to make sure your punch won't disappoint them. This St. Paddy's Day Leprechaun party punch will be a hit with young or old. This Leprechaun party punch recipe is different from the usual "sherbet and soda" punch recipes, and it is a difference your guests will enjoy. This recipe is for a non-alcoholic punch that can easily be converted with a bottle of one additional ingredient

A nice "extra touch" for your punch is to have a couple theme-shaped ice blocks floating in the punch bowl. Shamrock-shaped ice blocks would look perfect. Use aluminum foil shamrock-shaped cupcake molds that you can find at your local grocery or party supply store. Fill them with water, add a few drops of green food coloring, cover with clear wrap and freeze them. Voila'! green shamrock ice blocks to float in your Leprechaun punch.

Leprechaun St. Paddy's Day Party Punch

Serves approximately 30 - 6oz. cups

Ingredients:

2 ea. - 2-litre bottles Ginger Ale**
60oz. Pineapple juice 2 ea.
12 oz. cans frozen orange juice concentrate*
3 ea. - 3oz. boxes Lime Jello/gelatin mix 21/2 cups sugar

*put the OJ concentrate in the refrigerator instead of the freezer so they will be thawed/softened when you are ready to use them

**put Ginger Ale in the refrigerator to chill

Prep:

Early prep: Mix the boxes of lime Jello mix into a quart of hot water, stir until completely dissolved. Set aside to cool. When cool, add 5 cups cold water, OJ concentrate, and sugar. Stir until well mixed, then refrigerate until time to put out the punch bowl for the party.

Party Prep: Pour the pre-prepped liquid gelatin/OJ in the punch bowl first, and then add the chilled Ginger Ale and pineapple juice, and stir until well mixed. Crushed ice can be added if desired. Add 1 or 2 shamrock ice blocks and it is ready to serve.

And that is all there is to making a great St. Patrick's Day Punch. This St. Paddy's Day Leprechaun party punch will be the hit of your party that your guests will remember all year long. (they will expect more Leprechaun party punch next year too)

In food history one of the most controversial topics is the emperor of all salads, The Caesar. If you have never tossed a classic Caesar salad for your friends then you ought to try it. There is a real technique that makes it so special. While you are rolling instead of tossing the whole Romaine leaves in the wooden bowl to develop the perfect creamy dressing, you may want to mention 2 of the many stories that talk about the first Caesar salad that was ever tossed.

Who Invented the Caesar Salad?

Who Invented the Caesar Salad?

Caesar salad wasn't named after Julius Caesar as some sources say, the evidence to show that is thinner than the garlic slices mob boss Pauly shaved with a razor blade in the movie Goodfellas. The first Caesar was most likely tossed by either Caesar or his brother Alex Cardini.

Who Invented the Caesar Salad?

The brothers both came from Italy after the world war 1 and settled in San Diego, Ca. Caesar ran his own restaurant bearing his name in Tijuana and Alex was chef of a competing restaurant near by. When it burned down he became partners with his brother Caesar and here is where this salad became famous. The Hollywood crowd as well as a famous Duchess frequented Caesar's establishment. Even when Julia Child was a youth her folks took her there and Caesar himself made this salad to whom was one day going to become the queen of the foodies world.

Who Invented the Caesar Salad?

Caesar's daughter Rosa in an interview in 1987 said, her father invented the dish in his restaurant in Tijuana on Fourth of July in 1924. A rush had depleted the kitchen's supplies, so with still customers to be fed, Caesar made do with what he had, adding the dramatic flair of the table-side tossing "by the chef".

Carla Cardini, who is the granddaughter of Alex Cardini, works in fine dining around Houston, gives occasional classes on making this classic salad. She will tell you the original name was Aviator's Salad. Alex Cardini, my grandfather, was a pilot for the Italian Air Force during World War I before he moved to Tijuana to join my great-uncle Caesar. Remember, it was Prohibition, and Tijuana was where people went to party. Caesar's Place, my great-uncle's bar and restaurant, was very popular.

After a long night of drinking and missing curfew, a group of Rockwell Field Air Force pilots woke up at Caesar's, and what Alex made for them for breakfast that morning is what we know today as Caesar Salad. That day he called it the Aviator's Salad in honor of his flying buddies, but as the salad gained popularity with visitors from Southern California they said "Let's go to Caesar's and have that salad" and then just Caesar's salad.

Perhaps the crown should go to the Cardini family for this I am sure their mother is proud of both of them.

Roaring twenties gangster and flapper parties are popular and fun. They are a chance to dress up in glamorous fashion from the 20s, relive the danger and drama of speakeasies and bootlegging, and celebrate an era of new found freedom and excess. But if you want to add even more authenticity to your next gathering; learn some slang from that fabulous decade and mix into your party conversation! Here are a few popular words or phrases from the 20s to get you started.

How to Talk Like a Gangster - Learn 1920s Slang For Your Next Party!

How to Talk Like a Gangster - Learn 1920s Slang For Your Next Party!

1. Bee's knees - Refers to a really great person, thing, idea, etc. Where as today you might say something is super cool, back then it was the bee's knees. Example party usage: Wow! Your flapper dress is the bee's knees!

2. And how - Means that you strongly agree with something. Like when someone says that your onion dip is delicious, you could reaffirm that statement with an enthusiastic "and how!"

3. Don't take any wooden nickels - A phrase used as advice not to do anything dumb. For instance, if one of your friends says they're thinking of challenging others at the party to a moonshine drinking contest, "don't take any wooden nickels" would be an appropriate response. Then be sure to translate and tell them in plain, modern English that they really should NOT do that!

4. Hooch - Another word for bootleg liquor. Even though Prohibition is no longer in effect, you can get into the spirit of your roaring twenties party when you offer your guests some hooch! The good news is you don't have to actually serve bad, home brewed beer because if you're of age it is legal to just go buy some good stuff.

5. You slay me - Something you'd say when you find something funny. Of course when you find something funny, you can just laugh to indicate that you are amused. But at a gangster party, you have the perfect excuse to follow up your laughter with the cool line, "you slay me!" No one should waste an opportunity like that!

6. Spifflicated - In other words, drunk. Have fun with the guests who've had a few too many and try and get them to say that they're spifflicated! This alone is sure to provide some interesting entertainment.

7. Juice joint - This was another name for a speakeasy. A speakeasy, of course, was an establishment that illegally sold liquor during Prohibition. When hosting a gangster party it's fun to pretend that your party is taking place in a juice joint.

8. Glad rags - This refers to dressy clothes fit for a night on the town. When you invite people to attend your roaring twenties party, make sure to tell them to have their glad rags on when they come.

This will help you to accurately compare quotes from several companies. Your distance from the company will likely play a role in whether delivery, setup, and removal are included or cost extra, so check the distance with an online map service. This will give you an accurate mileage that you can provide to the company. Also inquire about rates for longer term rentals, as you may get a deal when renting that way.
